This year marked NALP’s last LANDSCAPES and with it came the announcement of the new annual meeting, ELEVATE.
ELEVATE will take place Sept. 18-22, 2022, in Orlando, Florida. This new conference and expo will meet the needs of NALP members and industry professionals. It is designed to be energized, innovative and collaborative with sessions focused on essential issues and trends that matter most to your business.
If you missed last week’s event, below are some of the different organizations and individuals who were recognized with various awards.
Bruce Wilson, owner of Bruce Wilson and Company, was named 2021’s Lifetime Leadership Award winner. The Lifetime Leadership Award is presented to an individual who has dedicated their life to the landscape and lawn care industry. Wilson has worked in the industry since he was a kid and has helped many companies transform from mom & pop operations to large-scale operations. Loriena Harrington, owner of Beautiful Blooms, LLC, based in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, was recognized as the 2021 Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award recipient. This award highlights a NALP member who has demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit and initiative, ensured advancement of the landscape and lawn care industry by actions and endeavors and serves as a shining example to other women in the industry.
Harrington has always been motivated by the sale from a young age and has worked to refine her business’s focus. She has highlighted her company as woman-owned and now more than half of her employees are female. Read more about Harrington’s journey as an entrepreneur and view her award video here.
Andrew Ziehler, owner of Ziehler Lawn and Tree Care, based in Centerville, Ohio, was named the 2021 Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award recipient. The Young Entrepreneur of the Year recipient demonstrates entrepreneurial spirit and initiative, ensures the advancement of the landscape industry by actions and endeavors, and serves as a shining example to current and future young entrepreneurs.
Ziehler started his business when he was 18 and recently shifted from landscape maintenance to lawn care services. His company has a goal to make 20,150 lives more enjoyable by 2030. Read more about Ziehler’s time as an entrepreneur and view his award video here.
Brandon Sheppard, a multiunit franchise owner for Weed Man, received the 2021 Advocacy Award, which is presented to individuals who have dedicated their time and eff efforts to go above and beyond to help represent and defend the interests of our industry at the local, state and national levels.
The 2021 Awards of Excellence recipients were also highlighted during the event last week. This year’s Judges Award was presented to Chalet, based in Wilmette, Illinois, for their residential landscape management.
A Decade Award was also presented to Hoffman Landscapes, based in Wilton, Connecticut. This award is presented to a company that received a Gold Award for their project and has maintained it continuously for 10 years or more and receives a Gold Award again for their work.
The 2021 Safety Recognition Award recipients were announced during LANDSCAPES as well. Below are the “Best of the Best” safety recipients, who have maintained the “Overall Safety Achievement Award – Gold Level” status for the past three years.
