Level Up Your Team: NALP Now Offers Free Online Training for Members

To continue to raise professionalism in the industry, NALP contractor members now have free access to comprehensive online training as part of their membership.

“NALP’s role as the trade association for the industry is to really help the industry grow,” says Britt Wood, CEO of NALP. “By providing training as part of membership, we’re enabling our members to better take advantage of the training that we have.”

Instead of struggling to develop your own training programs for new hires, cross-training, and elevating your mid-level employees, NALP’s suite of on-demand, online training can all be accessed from the Learning Hub.

The Landscape Technician Training Courses are ideal for providing basic training to new employees with no prior landscape experience. These courses cover installation, maintenance, irrigation, turf installation, and safety. Quizzes ensure comprehension of the topics and certificates are available upon completion of the courses. The technician courses are also available in Spanish.

“Our Landscape Technician Training Courses are also excellent for cross-training team members who are ready to learn new skills,” says Heather Parker, VP of education, events and programs for NALP. “For example, if you need irrigation technicians, you can put your landscape technicians through the irrigation training course to provide them with baseline knowledge and gauge their ability and/or interest in tackling a new role.”

You can also upskill your managers with the Landscape Business Management Training Courses. These courses will help employees build on their knowledge, fill in the gaps, and learn new management and leadership skills. The eight individual courses include:

  • Contract Law & Risk Management
  • Corporate Finance
  • Exterior Production & Operations
  • Human Resource Management
  • Leveraging Technology
  • Management, Leadership & Corporate Culture
  • Sales & Marketing
  • Strategic Planning

These courses enhance employee engagement and help retain top talent as you invest in them. NALP’s full suite of online training is a $4,000 value to put one team member through all the training.

An additional benefit of this training is that it is self-paced, so employees can complete the training as it suits their schedule. Each course takes, on average, two to three hours to complete.

These courses are designed to increase team members’ knowledge, professionalism and provide actionable skills. Companies can register multiple team members and monitor their progress through the courses upon request. Parker recommends, after completing the courses, that employers ask team members to share their feedback on how this learning offering benefits both them and the company.

“As a nonprofit, we have an opportunity to help the industry significantly as they become members, and we just want to enhance that value for them and give them more and more reasons to be a member and to grow their business,” Wood says.

This training is free only to NALP contractor members. Non-members and other NALP member types may purchase the training.

OSHA training and courses offered in partnership with other organizations are not included in the free training.
