Supreme Court Vacates WOTUS Stay

The U.S. Supreme Court unexpectedly struck down the Sixth Circuit Court’s stay on the Obama WOTUS rule. The Court unanimous ruled that challenges to WOTUS must be filed in federal district courts, as opposed to the federal appeals courts. The ruling marked the first opinion of the month. Justice Sonia Sotomayor delivered the opinion.

EPA Releases Pesticide Assessments

The EPA released preliminary ecological and human health risk assessments for a number of pesticides including clothianidin, thiamethoxam and dinotefuran insecticides.Ā  The agency also released a preliminary ecological risk assessment for imidacloprid.Ā  Previously, pollinator-only risk assessments were released for these pesticides earlier this year and Ā in 2016.Ā
