In season 2, episode 12 of the Growing in the Green Industry Podcast, hosts Glatt, managing partner of GrowTheBench, Brett Lemcke, VP of R.M. Landscape and Luke Melograno, production coordinator at Mariani Landscape, talk with Savana Craven, a landscape designer with Sunline Landscapes, based in Draper, Utah.
Craven is a landscape design and horticulture professional. She received a Bachelor of Science in horticulture from Brigham Young University – Idaho. While in school, Craven was the landscape design professors’ Teaching Assistant for two years, and also did a fair amount of work for the campus greenhouse and plant shop.
She was a team leader for their horticulture club, Metas Topiara, and was selected to be a student ambassador for NALP LANDSCAPES 2018. Since graduating and completing a few design-focused internships, she’s worked at Sunline Landscapes in Utah as part of the design/sales team for high-end residential landscapes for about 3 years.
In this podcast, Craven shares her perspective as a young professional, including the value of hands-on experience (like internships or working with campus grounds teams), the discovery process to find your passion and the roles that embrace it, and how sales and customer service skills are essential for success in any professional landscape position.
