Curious about the largest privately owned Georgia-based commercial landscape company’s inner workings? Then you’ll want to attend NALP’s annual Field Trip being held at Russell Landscape Group, based in Sugar Hill, Georgia, on June 6-7.

Marty Grunder, CEO of Grunder Landscaping Co. and The Grow Group, will host this Field Trip and lead attendees through an interactive company facility tour and education sessions across two days. Attendees will learn about how to implement proven job costing tools early in the life of their companies and how to break revenue ceilings and take their businesses to the next level.

This $62-million company got started in 1987. Dr. William ‘Bill’ E. Russell founded Russell Landscape Group and sold the business to his son, Teddy Russell, in 2018. During Field Trip, you will also learn how to transition a business from one generation to the next.

With over 500 employees across 10 different branches, Russell Landscape Group’s core strengths are their people, communication and being data-driven.

“Many of our clients have acknowledged that they appreciate the efforts we invest in our employees,” says Teddy Russell, CEO of the company. “(They also appreciate) our commitment to the customer experience and our commitment to building a lasting relationship. We call this the power of purple!”

Russell Landscape Group’s culture can be defined by transparency, celebrating team and company wins, and staying true to their core values, mission and vision. The company attracts their employees through competitive compensation and benefits, providing opportunities to grow and cultivating a family environment.

Russell says they hire individuals based on their character first and conduct a personality profile to ensure each team member is in the right seat. Employees are trained through hands-on field training, equipment rodeos and at Russell Landscape University.

The company specializes in commercial landscape installation, design and maintenance. They have worked on many notable properties, including the governor of Georgia’s mansion, Southall Farms, and the Gas South district. Russell credits their success to having strong relationships with their customers and partners in the community and by investing in resources and technology.

“We believe in fostering and developing relationships where trust is at the forefront,” he says.

Russell Landscape Group utilizes tools such as GPS routing, timekeeping software and drones. All of this technology helps the company improve their efficiency and financial growth.

Registration for Field Trip includes education, a hotel reception on Tuesday evening, breakfast and lunch on Wednesday and transportation between Russell Landscape Group and the hotel.

A separate ticketed reception event will take place at The 1818 Club at Gas South Arena on the evening of June 6, 2023. Attendees will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, special cocktails and an opportunity to tour the Arena with Russell Landscape Group management team members, Marty Grunder and other industry leaders.

Spots are limited, so register for Field Trip today.
