Through the eyes of a student ambassador

I started my story in the middle instead of the beginning. Let me start over by introducing my self. I am a Landscape Management student at Hinds Community College in Raymond Mississippi and I am serving as a Student Ambassador for PLANET at this year’s GIC. As my graduation date approaches, I am more concerned with my job prospects. I know that working in this industry is my calling, and I want to ensure that I secure a job at a company that wants to pay me to do what I love . Isn’t that what we all dream of? Turning our passion into profit? I know that is what motivates me to excel in my program at school. Going to GIC and Student Career Days always revitalizes my determination. I want to be a part of this great association when my school days are over. Why am I serving as a student ambassador? I want to take full advantage of all the opportunities PLANET offers to student ambassadors. I have the advantage of meeting and interacting with industry professionals behind the scenes. This is the networking opportunity of a lifetime. Yes, there is a lot of hard work and long hours involved and we are operating on very little sleep, but the payoff is huge! I am able to work beside seven of the brightest, most motivated green industry students. They are really the cream of the crop. I was amazed at how quickly we bonded and formed a true team. There are defiantly challenges being a student ambassador. Introducing speakers to large crowds did not come naturally for me. I am proud to say I rose to the challenge. There are many more challenges ahead of me before my week here is over. Next will be starting the whole process over in a few hours. I look forward to telling you all about it.
