Schill Grounds Management Expands to Cincinnati

Schill Grounds Management is expanding into the Cincinnati market after purchasing two full-service landscaping companies. Between the two businesses, they have served southern Ohio for a combined 90 years.

Schill acquired Ward + Thornton Landscapes, based in Maineville, Ohio, and was founded more than 50 years ago. The company offers full-service landscape, maintenance, snow management and design/build services to numerous customers including Fortune 500 companies as well as local businesses of all sizes.

Mike Ward, former owner of Ward + Thornton will oversee the consolidated operation in the region in a new role as Schillā€™s market president of Cincinnati. Ā 

Fredericks Landscaping was also purchased, based in Cincinnati. They have been providing full-service landscaping and snow management to customers in central Cincinnati and northern Kentucky for more than 40 years.

These are the third and fourth acquisitions Schill has completed in recent months and expands their current footprint beyond Cleveland and Columbus. Schill will continue to operate out of both companiesā€™ existing facilities and approximately 200 employees from the acquired companies will join the Schill family. Ā 

Piscataqua Landscaping & Tree Service Acquires Community Landscape Company

Piscataqua Landscaping & Tree Service has increased their territory to include New Hampshireā€™s Lake Region, by acquiring Community Landscape Company, based in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire.

Community Landscape Company owner Phil Borelli told his clients in a letter: ā€œPiscataqua Landscaping and Tree Service is a quality organization and believes in all the same things that I do: long-term relationships, depth of resources and support for their employees, quality service, and care for their customers. Our phone numbers remain the same, our location remains the same and our philosophy remains the same.ā€

As part of the acquisition, all 12 employees from Community Landscape Company will join Piscataquaā€™s 100+ staff across Maine and New Hampshire.

ā€œWe have worked closely with Phil around the Lake for a few years and saw this as a great opportunity to provide more resources for the team members, and a wider scope of services for the clients around the Lake,ā€ says Justin Gamester, president & CEO of Piscataqua Landscaping & Tree Service. ā€œWeā€™re looking forward to providing the same high-quality landscaping services.ā€

SiteOne Adds Branch in Washington

SiteOneā€™s new branch located in Poulsbo, Washington, is now open to the public.

Sperber Landscape Companies Partners with Cagwin & Dorward

Sperber Landscape Companies has joined forces with commercial landscaping services company, Cagwing & Dorward. This partnership will allow Sperber to expand into the Northern California marketplace.

This partnership creates a substantial footprint for Sperber as they continue to broaden their presence with strategic partnerships throughout the country.

Cagwin & Dorward is headquartered in Petaluma, California, and was founded in 1955. This company services Californiaā€™s Bay Area, Sacramento and the Central Valley. Cagwinā€™s CEO, Steve Glennon, will continue his leadership of the company alongside his existing management team.

Davey Names Richmond District Manager

Lawrence Eckart

The Davey Tree Expert Company has announced the promotion of Lawrence Eckart to district manager of Daveyā€™s Richmond residential/commercial (R/C) services office.

Eckart started with Davey in 1989 as a sales and service coordinator at the Baltimore R/C office. He was promoted to sales arborist in 1996. In 2002, he was promoted to assistant district manager for the Baltimore office. He has most recently been a regional business developer with the commercial tree care team serving the Maryland and Washington D.C. markets.

ā€œLawrenceā€™s depth of experience in both residential and commercial settings, combined with his ambition and willingness to help those around him, have proven he will be a great leader of this office,ā€ says Phil Snyder, vice president, East Atlantic, R/C services. ā€œHe has fueled a lasting and successful Davey career, and I have the same high expectations for this chapter to come.ā€

Eckart is an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist and holds licenses as a Maryland Tree Expert and Maryland and Washington D.C. Pesticide Applicator. He graduated from the Davey Institute of Horticultural Science in 1991 and in 1993 he graduated from the Davey Institute of Tree Sciences.
