Massachusetts and Other States Seek Comments on Pollinator Health

The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) is seeking public comment on a draft state Pollinator Protection Plan. The document will be finalized once the comment period concludes. All NALP members who live or provide work in Massachusetts are encouraged to submit comments to help ensure that viewpoints of landscape professionals are taken into consideration  as the plan is finalized. Interested members can send their comments to Kim.Skyrm@state.ma.us with the subject line “Pollinator Plan Comments”. The deadline to submit comments is March 31, 2016.

At the urging of the White House, many states are currently examining the issue of Pollinator Health and several are in the process of formulating Pollinator Protection Plans. NALP is working directly with stakeholders in multiple states to represent the interests of landscape professionals. We are dedicated to protecting the health of honey bees and other pollinators, but also will oppose arbitrary plans based on emotional rhetoric instead of science and real world impact For additional information on pollinator protection policy contact Paul Mendelsohn, NALP Vice President of Government Relations.
