The 2015 Day of Service has come and gone, and it was a great one. Itās always so inspiring to hear about the many community service projects that take place that same day all over the country. This year we had more than 60 projects within 25 states, approximately 700 volunteers, and more than $200K donated in materials and time.
We were fortunate enough to be able to spend the day with two of our member companies located in the Northern Virginia area for the Day of Service this year ā Kane Landscapes and Environmental Enhancements.
Kane Landscapes spent their time sprucing up the yards of the homes for the residents who live there as part of Pathway Homes, a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization providing non-time-limited housing and supportive services to adultsĀ with serious mental illness and co-occurring disabilities in Northern Virginia. Take a look at a video recap of their day.
Environmental Enhancements teamed up with a local elementary school and did some sprucing up of their own around the school grounds. They also worked alongside the schoolsā kindergarten students and helped them to plant some flowers. You check out all of their great work in this video.
There were many amazing projects that took place that day. Everything from outdoor classrooms, Habitat for Humanity landscapes, residential cleanups, educating elementary school children, cleanups of city parks, cemeteries, athletic fields, and community landmarks, and many more. Thank you to all who joined NALP this year by participating in the 2015 Day of Service!
