During a career of nearly 50 years in the green industry, Tom Shotzbarger has advocated the value of learning, training, teaching, and volunteering to advance science-based practices supported by modern research. As a past chair of NALP’s Renewal & Remembrance Committee and involvement in many other organizations, Shotzbarger has always received more than he has given.
Prior to becoming the grounds manager for Graver Arboretum of Muhlenberg College, Pennsylvania, Shotzbarger acquired numerous certifications in arboriculture, horticulture and turfgrass management. He has been a practitioner, educator, author, consultant, conference speaker, volunteer, business manager, and industry representative.
