Engaging Employees to Solve the Labor Crisis with Mike Bogan: Episode 18 of Growing in the Green Industry Podcast

In the 18th episode of the Growing in the Green Industry Podcast, hosts Miles Kuperus III, system architect at Include Software, Neal Glatt, managing partner of GrowTheBench, Brett Lemcke, VP of R.M. Landscape, and Luke Melograno, production coordinator at Mariani Landscape talked to Mike Bogan, CEO of LandCare.

Bogan graduated from Mississippi State University with a bachelorā€™s in landscape architecture. He began his career in the design/build division of a regional leader in the Mid-Atlantic states. He moved to The Brickman Group a short time later and helped pioneer their branch model when the companyā€™s focus changed from design/build to maintenance.

He spent 23 years with Brickman and then went on to create Monterey Pine Advisors, a consultancy serving the green industry. He assumed leadership of LandCare at the end of 2014, attracted by the opportunity to define a culture and build a team with a long-term vision and constancy of purpose, and to create a place where professionals passionate about landscaping could grow a fulfilling career.

In this podcast, Bogan says his passion for the industry was ignited when as a student he helped host the ALCA Student Career Days, the predecessor of the National Collegiate Landscape Competition. He also discusses how LandCareā€™s many branches have adopted technology during the pandemic. Bogan says over the years he’s learned landscaping is a people business as much as it is a plant business.
