Embracing Change and Taking Chances with Kristin Pontarelli: Season 3: Episode 38 of Growing in the Green Industry Podcast

In season 3, episode 38 of the Growing in the Green Industry Podcast, hosts Miles Kuperus at Include Software and Neal Glatt with GrowTheBench talk to Kristin Pontarelli, COO of Proscape Landscaping Management Corp.

Pontarelli didn’t start her career in the landscaping field. She was a Spanish teacher for 25 years but decided to switch gears completely to work with Proscape. She was the Department Chair of World Languages for eight years, which gives her the skill set that is needed in her role as COO to manage people, and create and implement processes and procedures so that the company can run smoothly. Additionally, her Spanish language skills have been an invaluable asset for the company in translating meetings and documents as well as offering English classes to their Hispanic workforce.

In this podcast, she shares her perspective on how having a Spanish speaker on staff in a management role has helped to bridge some of the gaps between staff members through her translating. She touches on cultural differences and how those factor into translations, helpful online translation tools, and creating a welcoming company culture that keeps employees coming back year after year.
