NALP Members in the News: NALP Supplier Member Doug Obermann of PBI-Gordon to Retire

NALP member Doug Obermann, vice president – turf & ornamental and agricultural sales, PBI-Gordon, plans to retire effective Oct. 31.

In 1988, Obermann began his long and successful career at PBI-Gordon, which he has worked at since graduating from college.

“We are grateful for and proud of his many contributions and successes over the years in marketing, research and development, and sales,” explains Neil Cleveland, vice president and general manager, PBI-Gordon.

Discussing his pending retirement, Obermann says: “I want to thank every customer, supplier, industry association and team member for the growth opportunities each has provided me over my 31-year career with PBI-Gordon. Also, I have truly enjoyed working and being part of the PBI family and its culture.”

NALP Members in the News: NALP Member Davey Named Ninth Largest Employee-Owned Company in the U.S.

The Davey Tree Expert Co. is the ninth largest employee-owned company in the U.S., according to a report from the National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO). 

The NCEO 2019 Employee Ownership 100 list shows Davey has grown, moving from the 12th largest company in 2018 to its current ranking. Companies are ranked on the list according to the number of the employees; Davey employs nearly 10,500 people across North America. 

The NCEOā€™s 2019 Employee Ownership 100 list includes the nationā€™s largest companies that are majority owned by an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) or other broad-based employee ownership plan.

Davey cracked the top 10 of the Employee Ownership 100 while celebrating 40 years of employee ownership in 2019.

Sperber Landscape Cos. has announced a recent partnership with Conserve LandCare, headquartered in Californiaā€™s Coachella Valley.

The addition of Conserve comes just months after the newly launched SLC brand acquired its first company: Kujawa Enterprises in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

SLCā€™s Managing Partner Richard Sperber says the addition of Conserve LandCare is a partnership because the owners will continue on with the business in their existing roles and will retain a portion of ownership of the company.
