Changing the way we tell our story

Why did you get out of bed this morning? Chances are, you didn’t get up with the intention of changing the world. But that’s exactly what you, as a landscape professional, are doing.

Just a day into Student Career Days 2015, and that has already been the most repeated message.

At the Academic Excellence Foundation reception, at the opening ceremony, overheard during the career fair, the focus was on the future leaders of our industry, and the power they have to go out in the world and not only do well, but to do good.

In a room full of 800 students from 64 colleges and universities across the country, it’s easy to feel confident about the direction the landscape industry is taking.

“For too long our story has been told for us by others, and a lot of  times they get it wrong,” said Roger Phelps, Landscape Industry Certified, STIHL Inc. “It’s time for us to change that. It’s time for us to tell who we are, what we do, how we do it, and WHY we do it. We’re looking forward to all of you joining us and helping us do that.”
